Folic acid (Vitamin B9) is a water-soluble vitamin and is essential for poultry. It functions as part of the enzyme system involved in carbohydrate metabolism and plays a key role in cell division due to its involvement in the formation of genetic material, making it particularly important for rapidly growing tissues such as bone.
