ISOVAT ELASTRON 120 – Elastic Liquid Waterproofing

ISOVAT ELASTRON 120 is a premium elastic liquid waterproofing product from ISOVAT, designed for professional-grade waterproofing and long-term protection of various building surfaces. It is a one-component, ready-to-use, water-based and solvent-free waterproofing coating based on acrylic-styrene copolymer emulsion. The product forms a seamless, flexible and highly elastic waterproof membrane after application, providing effective protection against water ingress and weathering.

ISOVAT ELASTRON 120 combines flexibility, durability and environmental safety. It offers more than 200% elongation at break, enabling the waterproofing membrane to accommodate surface movement and bridge fine cracks. The product provides excellent UV resistance for long-lasting performance under exposed conditions and offers general resistance to acids and alkalis. After curing, it creates a walkable surface with resistance to ponding water.

The product is suitable for a wide range of waterproofing applications, including flat and sloped roofs, foundations, retaining walls and basements. It can be used in bathrooms, kitchens and toilets under tile waterproofing, as well as on terraces and balconies. ISOVAT ELASTRON 120 is also suitable for external walls and facades, window sills, door thresholds and frame perimeters. With appropriate reinforcement mesh, it can also be used for water channels and swimming pools.

ISOVAT ELASTRON 120 can be applied to a variety of substrates, including concrete, plaster, brick, metal, stone and wood. The coating can be applied using a brush, roller, squeegee or airless spray equipment, making it suitable for different project requirements and application conditions.

For proper application, the substrate should be clean, dry and free from dust, grease, loose materials and other contaminants. Any cracks or damaged areas should be repaired before application. A priming coat of ELASTRON 120 diluted with approximately 10% clean water can be applied to prepare the substrate. The first coat should then be applied evenly by brush, roller or airless spray. Additional coats are applied after the previous layer has dried sufficiently. For optimal coverage, each subsequent coat should be applied perpendicular to the previous coat.

For wall surfaces, at least two coats are recommended, while wet areas, roofs and swimming pools require at least three coats. For hairline cracks or areas requiring additional reinforcement, fiberglass or polyester reinforcement mesh can be incorporated between the coating layers. The recommended reinforcement mesh is approximately 50–160 g/m² with a 2 × 2 cm mesh size, as specified in the application instructions.

The product provides a coverage rate of approximately 1–2 m² per kg, depending on the substrate and application conditions. A 10 kg package therefore provides approximately 10–20 m² of coverage. The recommended application temperature is between +5°C and +40°C, while the product's stated thermal stability range is from -25°C to +120°C. Recoating can generally be carried out after approximately 1–3 hours, depending on temperature and humidity. Full curing requires approximately 24–48 hours before exposure to water or foot traffic.

After application, tools and equipment should be cleaned immediately with water before the coating dries. The product should be stored in its original sealed packaging in a dry area at temperatures between +5°C and +40°C and protected from frost and direct sunlight. The stated shelf life is 24 months from the production date when stored under the recommended conditions.
