As Motogen operates in both motor and generator sectors, it aims to research and eventually mass-produce generators, starting with prototypes.

A generator converts mechanical energy into electrical energy and comprises power generation and excitation sections.

Generators are generally classified as AC or DC and can have separate or self-excitation. As this is an AC self-excited generator, its main components are:

- Main stator: Produces AC voltage and supplies output current.

- Main rotor: Contains laminated salient poles and induces voltage from the excitation winding to the stator winding.

- Excitation stator: Generates the magnetic field for rotor excitation.

- Excitation rotor: Produces DC voltage and delivers it to the main rotor via rectifier.

- Automatic Voltage Regulator (AVR): Controls voltage and current loop between power and excitation sections.

- Rectifier: Converts three-phase excitation voltage to DC for the excitation winding.

In operation, DC from the rotor rectifier excites the main rotor winding, creating a magnetic field. As the rotor spins, the stator windings cut this field, inducing three-phase AC. Two stator phases feed the AVR, which adjusts DC to the excitation stator to maintain constant output voltage across load conditions.
