Chlorinated paraffin

Physical Characteristics: Chlorinated paraffins are physically homogeneous substances. These compounds are colorless or pale yellow, amber, or honey-yellow liquids. They are soluble in organic compounds other than ethanol and water. Application: Chlorinated paraffins are a group of industrial products obtained by chlorinating paraffin (C30-C10) with a chlorine content of 20-70% by weight. Stability and Interaction: The color of most chlorinated paraffins darkens over time when exposed to heat, resulting in the release of hydrogen chloride gas. Chlorinated paraffins have a flash point of more than 200°C and a decomposition temperature of more than 120°C, and iron ions and zinc oxide accelerate their decomposition. Emergency and Hazard Response: In case of spillage, collect material with soil and absorbent materials that do not react with this material, shovel into dry and labeled containers and wash the environment with water. Clean the environment by trained personnel. People must use personal protective equipment. Transportation and storage: Transportation is carried out in closed polyethylene containers. The work environment must be equipped with a ventilation system. Safety precautions must be observed during transportation. Alkali and alkaline earth metals react with chlorine and cause the destruction of chlorinated paraffin. Oxidizers and reductants remove chlorine from the chain of this compound. Packaging: Supplied in bulk in polyethylene tanks or 220 and 1000 liter polyethylene (HDPE) drums.
