Osimertinib

Osimertinib targets and inhibits EGFR (epidermal growth factor receptor), a protein that is overexpressed or mutated in many types of cancer cells, particularly in NSCLC. In patients with certain mutations of the EGFR gene, the cancer cells grow and divide uncontrollably. Osimertinib specifically targets EGFR exon 19 deletions and L858R mutations, both of which are common mutations in NSCLC. By inhibiting EGFR, Osimertinib blocks the signals that promote tumor growth and helps slow or stop the cancer's progression.
